Telegraph | News | Medieval sea chart was in line with current thinking The 16th-century Carta Marina, an early sea chart seems to show that mediaeval mariners knew about, and mapped, dangerous eddies in the sea. The map is covered in images of sea serpents and monsters and swirling shapes, man of which seem to correspond to eddies such as where the Gulf stream meets with colder Arctic waters. More info here
Stonehenge - Aotearoa New Zealand is about to get a modern Stonhenge of it's own. The designers have used computers to create an accurate series of alignment so that, in addition to predicting solstices, it will also reperesent the astronomical alignments that ancient Polynesians used for navigation purposes
